Mulled wine. An absolute game changer.
My Mouth Watering Mulled Wine recipe is so easy to toss together and everyone you make it for will be amazed with your hosting skills! The great thing about mulled wine is that it smells just as amazing as it tastes. Your entire house will smell like the best spiced holiday candle. Not to mention, this is a great way to use up that super dry wine that your fancy boss gave to you ages ago.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 bottle of dry red wine
- 3 cups of apple cider
- 2 cups of cranberries
- 1 orange
- 2 sticks of cinnamon
- 3 whole cloves
- dash of nutmeg
- 1 tbsp of honey (optional/ to taste)
This recipe is incredibly easy. Here’s how:
- Wash and slice the orange. There are a couple different ways to slice the orange depending on your goal outcome:
- Cut the orange in half and squeeze most of the juice into the pot. This is the quick and easy way but least aesthetic. You can make this version more aesthetic by shaving off long, thin portions of the peal. Set these aside and use for garnishing each glass.
- Slice the orange perpendicular to the long center of the orange into 1/4 inch slices. This will give you round slices so you can see the pretty sections of the orange.
- Slice the orange in half along the long center. Slice each half into 1/4 inch thick slices for a half moon shape.
- Combine all of the ingredients (except honey) into a stock pot and bring it to a boil.
- Once contents have reached a boil, reduce to a simmer for 10 minutes.
- Stir occasionally.
- After 10 minutes, taste your mulled wine. If you desire a sweeter wine, add honey to taste.
- Continue simmering for 5 more minutes for a total simmering time of 15 minutes.
- Let cool and enjoy!
If you have any leftovers, pour the remaining wine into a large jar and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Cold mulled wine might be even better than when it is fresh and warm!
Really wanna look boujee? Make mulled wine as a gift for your friends and family! Divide it up into large Ball Jars and finish with a cute ribbon and gift tag. Be sure to get lots of cranberries and orange in each to make them look tasty and fresh.
